A Winter Tale

In order to launch Frances-Anne Solomon’s award-winning film A Winter Tale, PMG established a media campaign that raised public awareness about themes of violence in urban communities. PMG promoted the world premiere at the ReelWorld Film Festival, positioning it as one of Canada’s most important statements related to community betterment, during the 2007 festival season. PMG generated media coverage for Frances-Anne Solomon, actor Peter Williams and icon Leoni Forbes, leading up to the festival, while also handing onsite media interface at the screenings and press conferences. PMG then continued to do publicity for the film as it toured on the festival circuit, including stops at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, the San Diego Black Film Festival, New York African Diaspora Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festival. A Winter Tale continued on tour to schools and community centres across the Caribbean. As a result, the film was featured in international press across Canada, into the United States and in the Caribbean countries. Such outlets include CBC Television and Radio, The Toronto Sun, Jamaica Gleaner and Share News, only to name a few.


Da kink in my hair

In order to launch the third successful season of the Global Television series ‘da kink in my hair, PMG established a fully integrated marketing and publicity campaign, positioning it as one of Canada’s leading premieres during the 2009 season. The enhanced buzz and public awareness helped to increase viewership and popularity of the show. In conjunction with Global and Barna-Alper Productions, PMG promoted ‘da kink’s cross-Canada tour, as Trey Anthony, Ngozi Paul and the other cast members visited hair salons and community centres, empowering the women of our nation. PMG generated media attention leading up to an official premiere event the St. Lawrence Centre for the Performing Arts, handled onsite media interface at the reception and continued the momentum throughout the season run. As a result, PMG solidified National media coverage on Breakfast Television Vancouver, in the Toronto Sun, the Calgary Sun, Vancouver Sun, Edmonton Sun, TV Guide, Jamaica Gleaner, Share News and Caribbean Camera, only to name a few. That year the show was nominated for a Gemini-award.


Letters from Iwo Jima

In order to official launch Letters From Iwo Jima in the Canadian market, PMG worked with Warner Bros. to generate media attention for the Canadian premieres in Toronto and Vancouver. The enhanced public awareness and buzz helped to fill seats and generate ticket sales, once the movie hit theatres across the country. PMG focused attention on attracting press coverage from specialized media outlets within the Japanese, historical, entertainment and mainstream media. As a publicity tactic, PMG supplied a correspondent to attend a press junket in New York City to interview the lead actor Ken Watanabe. The interview notes were then offered to national journalists so that they could complete their articles.  PMG attracted press in the daily newspapers in Toronto and Vancouver.


Made in Jamaica

In order to enhance the film Made in Jamaica’s public reputation as a leading world premiere at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival, PMG conducted a fully integrated marketing and publicity campaign leading up to and carrying through the festival. The enhanced awareness and buzz surrounding the film, helped to attract the attention of potential distributors and other industry professionals, while the international stage was in Canada. PMG generated publicity for director Jerome Laperrousaz, the production company Lawrence Pictures and the celebrity cast such as reggae artist Capleton. We handled all onsite media interface at the press screening, public screenings, press conferences, junkets, post-screening events and public appearances. As a result, PMG solidified international press coverage with in music, entertainment, North American mainstream and Caribbean outlets. Such hits included news segments on Much News, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, Jamaica Gleaner and Share News.
