Toronto, ON- Myseum of Toronto’s second annual Myseum Intersections is well under way and if you haven’t yet made it to an event, there’s five major events remaining that you won’t want to miss. The festival features 36 projects exploring the city’s natural, cultural, and historical diversity bringing together community members from the west to east end. The non-profit organization presents a wide range of programming that will inspire a deeper appreciation for the richness of our city.
This years Myseum Intersections 2017 will run until March 31, 2017, be sure to check out the festivities.
The NOT JUST NUMBERS event takes place on March 22, 2017 at the Toronto Reference Library Beeton Hall, 789 Yonge St, Toronto. Not Just Numbers is an interactive mystery game that will debut at the Myseum Intersections festival. The objective of this event is so that community members and scholars can come together to uncover the identities and life stories behind the Canadian census. Attendees will get the change to sift through historical photographs, newspapers, maps, and other clues to solve the mysteries behind each entry. The event runs from 6-8PM.
The GAY AND NIGHT event takes place from March 20 to April 3, but the opening reception take place on March 24, 2017 at the Glad Day Bookshop 499 on Church St. Gay & Night is a creative historical exhibition honouring Toronto’s early LGBTQ+ community. Juicy archive materials will meet shadow puppet animation videos in order to effectively illustrate the forgotten moments from Toronto’s queer past. Gay & Night envisions a complicated but inspiring past future of the LGBTQ+ community in Toronto and the opening reception will run from 8PM-12AM.
The FUTURE(ING) THE PAST event runs from March 25 – March 26 at the Cahoots Theatre Unit 3, 388 Queen St E.
Future(ing) the past is an exhibition exploring history through a series of vignettes and artistic situations that re-envision stories, events, characters, productions, and actual physical spaces that belong to the past 30 years of existence for Cahoots Theatre. The exhibition runs from 11AM-4PM and is created by 5 artists Cahoots believes will shape the future of Canadian theatre.
The BEING HEARD event runs takes place on March 23, 2017 at the Gladstone Hotel from 6-9PM.
Workman Arts and Raconteurs Storytelling co-present an evening of storytelling at the Gladstone Hotel. The evening’s stories will have a mental health focus and will be told by both Workman Arts members and participants from the Raconteurs network.
DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? The event takes place from January 27 – May 31 at the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre, 2 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr. The Lakeshore Grounds represent many different histories: Indigenous, educational, environmental, and psychiatric. The historic Do you see what I see tour invites guests to “see” the Lakeshore Grounds with a fresh set of eyes.
