Barbados’ latest singing sensation and breakout artist KITORAH returns to Toronto for an encore performance at the 7th Annual Barbados Charity Ball

Toronto – June 10, 2010

Following on the heels of her successful performance at the 2007 Barbados Music Awards, where she performed her first single and original song, From This Day On, the island’s next big name, KITORAH will be back to Toronto for a second time around. On June 12, 2010, KITORAH will be performing for the 7th Annual Barbados Charity Ball as held by the Barbados Ball Canada Aid.

No stranger to the music industry, KITORAH got her first big break while still in her teens, when she won the Barbadian Richard Stoute Teen Talent Award. Since then KITORAH has worked on numerous musical collaborations, including co-writing and producing three songs on her first solo album, “Love Like Mine”, with the celebrated Jimmy “Senya” Haynes.

Her first single, “Love Like Mine” was co-written with Kristina Unjhem, a Norwegian singer/songwriter and produced by Deekay Music/Pop City, producers for the British boy group, BLUE. The title track was released in the Caribbean in September 2007. The song delivers to the industry the same Caribbean Dancehall/Soca rhythmic style similar to some of the major players in the game.

Demonstrating her accomplishment as a singer-songwriter, KITORAH’s musical gift took her to China for the prestigious 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. KITORAH, along with producers Eddie Bullen and Derek Brin, wrote the song, “Make Them All Believe In Me” which she had the honour of performing for the Concert Series, “Marriage Of Excellence”, introduced by the International Performing Arts for All (IPAFA). KITORAH performed in three major cities to re-establish The Arts Games, serving as a bridge between the Paralympics and the Olympics.

For the sale of her first solo album, “Love Like Mine”, she will be donating the proceeds to assist St. Peter’s Hospital’s research fund for Muscular Dystrophy and Alzheimer’s Disease as well as to the International Paralympics Association (IPA). Both charitable causes are based in Canada.

With an undeniable passion for her music career, KITORAH has established herself as one of Barbados’ biggest stars. An incomparable soothing tone, commanding stage presence, pure new sound, and all around entertainer, KTIORAH is definitely the next big thing to come out of Barbados, a place that has produced some of the world’s most well-known talents.
