From the stage to the streets of Toronto, Canadian actress Melanie Nicholls-King takes on a fierce role in GlobalTV’S hit series Rookie Blue.

As a headstrong mentor, New York-based, Canadian Actress Melanie Nicholls-King takes on a fierce role playing veteran cop, Noelle Williams on the GlobalTV and ABC hit series, Rookie Blue. The show airs on Thursday nights at 9:00 pm.

Set in Toronto, Rookie Blue is a drama-packed Canadian cop series that follows the trials of five rookie cops, who trained together at police academy. Starting their careers in the big city the group faces many challenges, including proving themselves to training officer Noelle Williams.

Played by Melanie, Noelle Williams is a fierce and efficient police woman who wants to prove that women can get ahead on the force, but not without sacrifice. Single, and faced with the possibility of having a child, Noelle has to decide just how much she can sacrifice for her job.

Melanie began her career on stage with Sugar’n’Spice, a theatre company she created with two other women. The company’s first production, Sistahs, earned her a nomination for a Dora under the Best Female Performance category.

Melanie’s experience has exploded since then, holding television roles on the critically acclaimed HBO Drama, The Wire, as well as roles on ABC’s Cupid, Showtime’s Deacons for Defence, all three Law and Order’s, and Disney’s The Famous Jett Jackson.

Her big-screen experience includes a leading role in Clement Virgo’s Rude, which at the time was the first feature film written, directed and produced by African-Canadians. The film was a huge success and received a special jury citation at the 1995 Toronto International Film Festival.

MelanieNichollsMost recently, Melanie’s film credits include a leading role in the independent film How She Move, which premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. The film was such a success that it was picked up and distributed by MTV Films and Paramount.

Rookie Blue is currently in its second season of filming and Melanie will face new personal challenges in her role as training officer, Noelle Williams.
