Toronto – August 15, 2013Toronto’s award-winning Opus Restaurant on Prince Arthur (37 Prince Arthur Ave.) has been honoured with Wine Spectator Magazine’s prestigious 2013 Grand Award.
Featured in the August 31, 2013 issue of Wine Spectator Magazine, Opus is one of 73 restaurants from around the world that was presented with this award recognizing such a high level of overall excellence. Other prestigious restaurants and wine directors on this list include Thomas Keller of New York’s Per Se, Stéphane Jan of Paris’ Le Taillevent, and Maurizio Tafani of Florence, Italy’s Enoteca Pinchiorri.
Opus’ vast wine knowledge, beautifully cultivated collection – the most comprehensive in Canada and the only one in Toronto – and its exceptional service and harmony with the menu made it a primary contender for this award.

Opus’ wine list stretches to some 2,350 selections from around the world, covering most major wine regions. While Opus puts a strong emphasis on classic wine producers, they also highlight upcoming regions that produce moderately priced wines.

Opus Restaurant is set in a modernized Victorian townhouse, creating an intimate and personal feel. In addition, they offer a private dining room and an elegant patio lounge. Paying tribute to old Hollywood, the walls of Opus is home to original one of kind photographs of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe by photographer Ray Schatt.
Founded by brothers Tony and Mario Amaro, Opus is dedicated to the philosophy of embodying excellence, perfection and knowledge in everything they do. The brothers are always found in-house, interacting with their guests and ensuring the best dining experience possible.
Since joining Opus in 2001, Executive Chef Jason Cox has since become synonymous with the restaurant, known for crafting creative dishes that pair perfectly with the restaurant’s wine list and clientele. With a distinct focus on seasonally fresh ingredients, he strives to ensure that the patrons of Opus have the best ingredients, may it be fresh fish, meat, and produce. Jason also puts emphasis on making things from scratch and in-house, which includes the restaurant’s breads, sweets, and charcuteries.
