Canadian singer songwriter Scotty Newlands pays tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces this Remembrance Day with his brand new single “These Are Our Heros”

ScottyNewlandsTORONTO-Both in and out of his uniform, Reserve Office Scotty Newlands is a young Canadian singer, songwriter and military man with a unique vocal style. This Remembrance Day, Scotty will be using his music to honour the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces both here and abroad. His brand new single, These Are Our Heros (available for purchase starting November 11th, 2010 on www.scottynewlands.com/heros.htm) will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Canadian Armed Forces to pay homage and thank members for their service and contribution to the country.

Written by Les Kotzer with music and production by Lewis Manne and Wendy Watson, Scotty was chosen to sing this song and breathe life into the inspirational words. These Are Our Heroes is dedicated to the army men and women whose selfless acts of heroism throughout history have allowed us to live in peace and experience everything we often take for granted.

No stranger to the music scene, Scotty Newlands has honed his vocal skills from his early days in school choirs and University ensembles. Since then he has evolved into an up and coming artist who is making a name for himself in the Canadian music industry. After finishing as one of the top finalists in the 2003 Canadian Idol season, Scotty Newlands has since released his first album, New Roads.

Creating something that would speak to everyone, the album New Roads is composed around Newlands life. Newlands wanted to show a challenge time with love and loss, and the potential inner strength each of us has to overcome.

To further his music abilities, Newlands teamed up with Richard Uglow, a pianist and producer, to work on several projects at Studio 92 in Toronto. With their music and ideas complimenting each other’s personal style, Uglow helped Newlands to develop a new distinct sound he would later use whole recording, New Roads.

Newlands wrote and recorded New Roads with Canadian producer Brent Bodrug at Sly-Fi studios in Toronto. Bodrug’s years of experience as an accomplished pianist and songwriter matched Newlands performance style and together they were able to create a project to best showcase Newlands vast vocal range and style, as well as expose his talent and depth as a songwriter.

Combining his love of performance with a desire to serve, Scotty enlisted into the Canadian Army Reserve. He began his military career as a musician and later became an officer – serving as a Public Affairs representative and featured vocalist for many high-profile events.

After enlisting in the military, Newlands was involved in many different theatrical and musical performances around Scarborough, Ontario. During this time, he also participated in numerous parades and concerts in both his civilian and military career.

Thinking of others, Newlands wanted to give back to the people who have supported him and helped shape his past. Realizing the importance and affect of high morale in the military community, Newlands continues to support out troops by donating a portion from each CD sale to the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA).

JAMPRO promotes Jamaica for its strong infrastructure, attractive business incentives and highly skilled taskforce

As a premier destination for mainstream film production, JAMPRO promotes Jamaica for its strong infrastructure, attractive business incentives and highly skilled taskforce.

Toronto – September 17, 2010

JAMPROAs the world stage comes to Toronto, the Creative Industries Unit of JAMPRO hosts an exciting film industry networking event during the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), being held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Harlem Restaurant (67 Richmond Street East).

The event raises public awareness of Jamaica’s appeal as a premier destination for film projects, as it offers a strong infrastructure, attractive business incentives, and a highly skilled taskforce, in addition to the island’s breathtaking beauty and variety of scenic locations.

The recently released film Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, has been a tremendous success story for the Jamaica Film Commission and the country as an excellent location for creative production. The film, about a woman (Cameron Diaz) who gets tangled up with a secret agent (Tom Cruise) who realizes he is not supposed to survive his latest mission, is highlighted by the gorgeous backdrop of the island.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to promote Jamaica’s Creative Industries at international festivals, such as TIFF. Our goal is to encourage film production in the country and contribute to a stronger economy,” said Nardia McKenzie, Senior Consulting Officer and Consul for Trade and Investment. “We are aggressively moving towards developing new content for promotion at festivals such as TIFF given that the Creative Industries is recognized as having the potential to transform the country’s economic fortunes. The fact that we now have a physical presence in the market have contributed significantly to our success in having an increase in the number films being done in Jamaica.”

JAMPRO is a gateway connecting the world to Jamaica, enabling entrepreneurs from around the globe to tap into the wealth of trade and investment opportunities available in the country. In facilitating investment, JAMPRO guides investors through the necessary steps to making their projects possible, walking them through the approval process and staying with them even after their investments are operational.

JAMPRO recently opened its North American Regional Office in Toronto. It has been actively pursuing a Canadian-Jamaican Co-Production Treaty with the Canadian Government, which would provide investors with increased access to available funding for film projects.

In Jamaica, the film industry is one of the many sectors bristling with the potential to spur economic growth. Since 1984, the Jamaica Film Commission housed within the Creative Industries Unit at JAMPRO has serviced over 3,000 film projects ranging from feature films and documentaries to music videos. The role of the Jamaica Film Commission includes the facilitation of all elements of the film production process through the provision of services such as location scouting, the acquisition of film licences and the administration of attractive incentives to production companies, both local and overseas.

The Jamaica Film Commission facilitates movies and television series produced by international and local investors. Production in the country employs approximately 250 Jamaican citizens per project. The Commission is currently facilitating a number of local film productions including the feature Film “Ghetta Life” by Chris Browne and looking forward to start production of Caribbean’s Next Top Model, early next year.

Canadian based MenuPalace.com launches its next innovative website, Dealfind, with an ambassador program that makes you money for every referral.

Toronto – August 4, 2010

The ultimate North American restaurant and hospitality guide, MenuPalace.com, launches its new and unique website, Dealfind (www.dealfind.com). Dealfind introduces to Canadian consumers a whole new way of shopping with the power of collective-buying and a one-of-a-kind “ambassador program”.

With the simple click of a mouse and word of mouth, Dealfind brings consumers the best places to dine, shop and experience at a fraction of the cost. The service works by negotiating deals with businesses looking to attract new customers. For example, $75 worth of food and drinks at a restaurant, can be purchased for only $30. Once people go on Dealfind, they can subscribe for free to receive daily emails alerting them about that day’s special deal, which are sometimes chopped down to 90 per cent off.

Additionally, Dealfind has uniquely pioneered an “ambassador program” where its users can earn money. This works when users refer friends, colleagues and family members to purchase a deal. Through this program, Dealfind encourages users to share the deal with others via communications vessels such as Facebook and Twitter, utilizing social media tools at a whole other level. Whenever a purchase results from a referral, Dealfind will pay the ambassador a generous commission.

Dealfind features a “Deal” each day. Users then have 24 hours to buy it. Once the time runs out on the deal of the day, buyers of the voucher can start redeeming them at the chosen business. These businesses vary from restaurant and tourist attractions, to spa getaways and car detailing. The deals have no expiry dates, so the buyers are free to use them at anytime.

As an example, through Dealfind’s unique social distribution method, it was able to sell 2,163 spa packages, 295 tailor made shirts, 1,154 sushi restaurant certificates, 608 passes for paintball, 1,191 passes for kickboxing classes, 774 passes for the high speed Toronto Boat Tours and 588 car detailing packages. Each of these sales were done in a 24 hour period.

img-DealFindOnce a deal is closed, Dealfind immediately sends the business operator a cut of the sales proceeds, along with new customers who may have otherwise not known about that business, if it weren’t for the deal. By guaranteeing a large number of new customers, Dealfind believes that it is creating a win-win for both the consumer and the business.

Dealfind came together in 2009, an offshoot of MenuPalace.com, a website containing restaurant and hospitality information. Its mission is to bring the best deals directly to consumers every day.

Dealfind prides itself in featuring products and services that are worth buying. It believes anyone can find a great deal, but not everyone can find a great deal on something they really want. Because Dealfind features unbeatable deals only from reputable businesses, they are confident that its users will feel comfortable purchasing vouchers at such mind-blowing discounts.
